AEM SCREENS | Targeting Different Campaigns within the same Rotation

Modified on Thu, 31 Aug, 2023 at 9:16 AM

This section assumes that you have installed the Personalisation Hub AEM Package & successfully connected AEM Screens to the Personalisation Hub Platform.

You can easily control Multiple Localised Campaigns within the same Channel. This and the following two articles cover how to author these scenarios within AEM Screens.

Let's Add a New Segment to AEM called Demo Audience 2 (To do this, please follow the Steps covered in a previous article called (Creating New Segments/Audiences)

1. Open the Localised Channel Single Portrait Campaigns that you created in an earlier article in Targeting Mode

2. Select Targeting from the dropdown menu > select the Activity (Single Portrait) followed by Start Targeting then select Add Experience Targeting from the Segment/Experience Right Side Menu Bar.

2. Search for & select the Audience that you just created Demo Audience 2 then, select 'OK'.

3.It now appears in the Right Hand menu, select it.

4. Now Target the campaign Default 3 in the Channel by first clicking on it, then clicking on the Target Icon, clicking on Default 3 again, selecting the Plus Icon (Add Offer). Then Drag & Drop a New Campaign named Demo Audience 2 over Default 3 to overwrite it (see screenshots below). This new campaign will play instead of Default 3 when Demo Audience 2 experience resolves.

Please Note: On some occasions you may need to Refresh the Web Page & open the Channel in Targeting mode again for the Component to be targeted & the Add offer option to be shown.

5. In certain cases (as per the above screenshot) > you will notice that the 2nd Campaign (Default 2) in the Rotation does not have the copy "Add Offer" presented as a text overlay. This means that this experience will overwrite the Demo Audience 1 Experience (defined previously) if the Demo Audience 2 Store segment resolves. We want these 2 Segments to work simultaneously so we need to fix this.

6. Click on the 2nd Campaign Default 2 and click on the (x) Icon (see screenshot below)

7. You should now see the words "Add offer" (see screenshot below). This means that the 2nd Campaign will not be overwritten by this Experience & will update based on the segments that are resolving for the respective Store/Location.

8. Now if you Click through each of the Experiences, you'll see what will Play once the Updated Channel is Published & when the defined segments resolve. Please double check that "Add offer" is presented for all the Targeted Campaigns that do not have experiences defined for them for each of the selected Segment/Audience.

  • DEFAULT: Default 1 > Default 2 > Default 3
  • Demo Audience 1: Default 1 > Demo Audience 1 > Default 3 (Add offer overlay)
  • Demo Audience 2: Default 1 > Default 2 (Add offer overlay) > Demo Audience 2

If BOTH Demo Audience 1 & Demo Audience 2 Segments Resolve, the following will Play:

  • Default 1 > Demo Audience 1 > Demo Audience 2
