AEM SCREENS | Authoring a Targeted (Localised) Channel

Modified on Thu, 31 Aug, 2023 at 9:08 AM

This section assumes that you have installed the Personalisation Hub AEM Package & successfully connected AEM Screens to the Personalisation Hub Platform.

Once you've create your Audiences/Segments & created the Activity for your Display-Type, now you are ready to author specific Campaign/Experiences for those Audiences/Segments.

First you need to point the channel that you created previously to use the Personalisation Hub Platform's API.

Login to AEM and navigate to the Channels folder.

1. Select/Tick the Channel & select Properties (in the Top Nav menu).

2. Using the same process as for Creating New Segments/Audiences, update the below ContextHub & Segment Paths. In addition, you must select from the dropdown menu the Brand (Personalisation Hub) & Activity (AEM Screens) that you created in earlier steps. Select Save & Close.

3. Select/Tick the Channel & select Edit (in the Top Nav menu).

4. Now when you Open the Channel's Edit menu you should see an added Menu Option called Targeting, select it.

5. Select the BRAND (Personalisation Hub) & ACTIVITY (Single Portrait) that you created earlier then select Start Targeting.

6. You will now see a New Right Side Menu Bar that lists Audiences associated with this channel (if there are any), Default (which is the rotation of active campaigns) and an option to + Add Experience Targeting. Click on this to add, from the segment list that appears, the Demo Audience 1 Segment/Experience that you created earlier.

7. Let's Assume the Channel has 3 x Default Campaigns. Let's Target the 2nd Campaign/Component. To do this Select the Component & select the Target Icon.

8. The Component will now be Targeted & you'll see the words 'Add Offer' presented as overlayed text. Select the Component Again & select the Plus (Add Offer) Icon.

9. Now Drag & Drop the Demo Audience 1 Campaign into the Targeted Component. You will now see the Demo Audience 1 Campaign play in the Channel when the Segment/Audience Resolves.

10. Finally Select Next > Next > & Save.

11. Select/Tick the Channel & Select Manage Publication.

12. At Options select Next. At Scope, select/tick the Channel, select Published References, check that all the updated campaigns are referenced, select Done & finally select, Publish.

Please Note: If the Updated Channel does not Publish on your Display, you may need to Open the Channel in Edit Mode (not Targeting mode), Add an Image to the Chanel then immediately Delete the Image from the Channel ("Dirty the Channel") & then select Manage Publication & follow the standard Publish flow.
